Capitol Hill felt NTEU Power last week. NTEU Chapter 137 Delegates Lizett Garcia, Rene Garcia, Gabriel Davis, and Carlos Ortega travelled to Washington, D.C. last week to meet with members of Congress and discuss pressing issues facing CBP and the federal workforce. More than 350 NTEU members made their presence known on Capitol Hill as part of the 2016 Legislative Conference. They met with members of Congress and their staffs, they discussed the issues, brought their frontline experience and knowledge to the conversations and left behind detailed fact sheets.
The following were the key talking points for this year's conference:
1. Securing a Fair Pay Increase
2. Pushing for Adequate Agency Funding
3. Protecting Federal Retirement Benefits
4. Ensuring a Fair Workplace
5. Safeguarding Healthcare Benefits.
