CBP has notified NTEU that it will pilot a new dress down policy in OIT which will allow bargaining unit employees to wear casual attire every day. Casual attire includes but is not limited to neat and clean t-shirts, polo shirts, jeans and sneakers. However, it will not include torn or cut off clothing, beach or exercise wear, including gym clothes. Under the pilot, bargaining unit employees scheduled to meet with the public or representative from other government agencies will still continue to be required to dress according to the existing “neat, clean and business-like” standard.
NTEU has requested a briefing on this issue.
