Trade Bill Includes NTEU-Authored FLAP Language

A new trade law that would improve Customs and Border Protection (CBP) includes NTEU-authored language expressing congressional support for the Foreign Language Assistance Program (FLAP). 

CBP employees who use one or more foreign languages during at least 10 percent of their duty hours are eligible for the annual FLAP awards. 

NTEU has long been a champion of FLAP, which was put in place to encourage more CBP employees to learn and use foreign languages at their work sites and reward those who use this coveted skill to help CBP better execute its mission.
