AWS at MIA

May 12, 2017

NTEU 137 was recently presented with a proposal from MIA passenger operations management to change the current AWS RDO rotation for the AWSshifts in passenger processing (core). Citing an adverse impact on the operation and increased costs, management said the change was necessary. NTEU 137 made it clear to management that it is 100% against the change and completely disagrees with it. At the same time, NTEU 137 requested from management the data used to support this decision. With complete disregard to our position and towards our request for more information, management went ahead and and sent out an email to all of passenger operations informing of this change and giving the minimum 7 day notice for it.

At this time, NTEU 137 is preparing to counter this decision in as many ways possible as allowed for in the CBA and by labor law. NTEU 137 understands the negative impact this has on employees' personal life and quality of life. Rest assured we will do all we can to fight for what's in the best interest of our bargaining unit. If you have any concerns, please direct them to a local steward or contact the chapter office.
