Late last year, NTEU filed a national grievance over CBP’s position that it would only negotiate AWS for Center employees at the Center level and not at the Port level. NTEU then decided to engage in “protest bargaining” while the grievance was being processed in an attempt to provide Center employees with the AWS benefits of Article 14 as soon as possible.
NTEU national is pleased to announce that NTEU and CBP have reached an agreement to negotiate over this issue during the week of March 12, 2018 in an attempt to meet CBP’s Center-related interests and NTEU’s Port-level interests. NTEU’s team will include up to five (5) bargaining unit representatives, not including NTEU staff. CBP will be represented by up to five (5) Center Directors, in addition to other CBP personnel.
As a reminder, these negotiations will cover AWS for Import Specialists, Entry Specialists, and those Technicians that have been assigned to the Centers.
