Shutdown Averted - Senate Passes FY 2020 Funding
Today the Senate passed the funding agreement passed by the House on Tuesday, sending the measures to the President, who is expected to sign it before the current Continuing Resolution expires tomorrow. By a vote of 81 to 11, the Senate passed H.R. 1158, which contains four appropriations bills — Defense, Commerce-Justice-Science, Financial Services and Homeland Security. H.R. 1865, which contains the remaining eight bills, passed by a vote of 71 to 23.
NTEU was successful in securing an average 3.1 percent pay increase for federal employees (comprised of a 2.6 percent across-the-board pay increase and 0.5 percent increase to locality pay rates) that will provide pay parity with members of the military, and in ensuring that agencies receive the necessary funding to meet their missions.
