Congress Overrides President Trump’s Veto of the FY 2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)

On January 1, 2021, Congress voted to override President Trump’s veto of the FY 2021

National Defense Authorization Act, which contains a provision to allow federal employees

to carryover additional unused annual leave.

The Senate joined the House in voting to override the president’s veto of the FY

2021 NDAA. This ensures the enactment of several provisions that will benefit federal

employees, including one that would permit most federal employees to carry over an additional

25% of annual leave into 2021 (60 additional hours).

I am pleased that Congress has recognized the dedicated service of federal employees by

ensuring you can keep additional leave you earned but were unable to take during the pandemic.

Anthony M. Reardon

National President
