Reardon to Congress: Give OFO More Money for Staffing

National President Tony Reardon testified today about the persistent staffing shortages at the ports and asked Congress to provide funding to hire additional CBP personnel.

The hearing focused on seaports but Reardon used the opportunity to point out that CBP’s own models show a need for additional CBPOs, Agriculture Specialists and Trade Specialists at ports around the country.

“It is vital that Congress continue to authorize and fund additional staffing to ensure CBP employees at the ports of entry can continue to succeed in their important work,” Reardon said.

The hearing was conducted by the House Homeland Security subcommittee that oversees border operations.

Reardon’s full testimony can be found on NTEU’s website.
